Normal backwashing or cartridge cleaning of pool and spa filters does not remove grease and oils from the filter media.  To extend the life of the media a chemical filter cleaner may be used with great results.

Sand filters should have the sand replaced after three seasons of use.  More often if heavy bather loads or extreme conditions exist at the installation.

Use the following products to chemically clean your filter:

bulletGLB Filter Cleanse - This acid-based granular formulation cleans and unclogs filters of grease, oils, and scale while still being much safer to use than muriatic acid. This unique combination of acids and detergents dissolves easily in water. Special solution will gradually change from red to yellow as it cleans.
bulletGLB Filter Rinse - The easy way to clean sand filters.  Just pour into pool skimmer to clear sand particles of caked-on organics.  Follow directions on bottle closely.
bulletGLB Filter Fresh - Specially developed, acid-based liquid cartridge cleaner. Removes scale, rust, cosmetics, oil and other materials from filter cartridge with its overnight "soak and rinse" formula. Use regularly to help filters operate at maximum efficiency.
bulletMuriatic Acid - Acid can be diluted and used to soak filter cartridges in to remove scale.
