"Lithium" is short for:

Lithium hypochlorite is a totally soluble, granular material containing 35% available chlorine.  It dissolves completely when applied to pool/spa water without pre-dissolving and can be used in vinyl liner pools.  

Lithium hypochlorite is the "Cadillac" of shock treatments.  It has a low chlorine content, is expensive, but it dissolves quickly and easily and does not require pre dissolving before adding to a vinyl liner pool.
