de filter pump

Postby chewy on Mon Jul 21, 2008 6:16 am

hi I am fairly new at this swimming pool business since I just bought the house and it came with a cement inground pool. My pool was dirty when I first moved in. So I treated the water with chlorine and balanced out the ph level correctly then I vaccumed up the pool with the manual vaccum deal. the first month went fine. I checked the water level and all that good stuff and cleaned the bottom of the pool everyday. But after that month or so the pool seemed to get dirty faster and faster. so I turned on the backwash and it turned out good again. Then the next week, it got worse. Now i will clean the pool and in the next hour or so it will get extremeley dirty. Its like the pump just pumped out all the dirt and everything that i have sucked up. I am wondering is this my de filter pump needing to be cleaned out? or is it something else?

Please visit http://www.expertpool.biz/backwashing_filters.htm for information on pool filters and cleaning. Your filter needs to be backwashed weekly or after every vacuuming or anytime the base pressure goes up 5psi from normal. D.E. Filters should be disassembled and manually cleaned at least once per year. Dont forget, you need to add D.E. powder back into the filter after every backwash if you have a D.E. style filter. Hope this helps!
