Salt water generator- greening pool

Postby rgmac on Mon Aug 04, 2008 5:12 pm

Hi,
I have a salt-water chlorine generator. I run it at 80% per hour production. My salt PPM level is 3400. My free chlorine is 5. My PH is 7.8. My calcium is 180. My alkalinity is 190.
I use a chlorine free shock once a week.
My pool is turning a pale green.
What is happening?
Is it the chlorine free shock?
Should I use Dy-Chlor II?
I can't figure this one out.
Any information would be helpfull.

Thanks for your time.

Green can be a sign of high copper levels in the water or algae developing. We dont recommend the use of Salt systems, just good old reliable chlorine. Not sure on this one without a metals test result but I would bet it is metals in the water.
