I have found little info on the so called Ozonators that are sold for spas.
Do they need to be replaced after time or is it perm?
Also, REALLY, how effective are thay at killing bacteria and reducing the amount of chemicals?
Thanks,
JMW

Please visit http://www.expertpool.biz/ozone.htm for more detailed information.

Most ozonators are ultraviolet light type units and just like the light bulbs in your car, they will grow dim over time and even burn out. If its burned out it will not produce ozone, if it is an older bulb that still works, then its output may be decreased. Ozone is only as effective as the manner in which it is introduced into the water. The smaller the bubble and the further the bubble travels in the water, the more effective ozone will be for your spa.

Ozone is great for keeping the water clean in the spa while your not using the spa but it can not keep up with the sanitization needs of a regularly used spa and therefore, additional granular chlorine is recommended after using the spa.

Hope this helps!
