PINK SLIME HELP!

Postby grinding123 on Mon Jun 30, 2008 7:38 am

We have a 30,000 gallon pool. We purchased the home in 11/2006...the pool was a swamp and the owners only ran it 8 hrs a day (location SE Texas). We cleaned it up using Baquacil products and continued using them around a year later we started seeing signs of white water mold. I guess we keep it subdoed until jan of this year. After spending about $600.00 a month or more on bacq. products I started complaining to my pool store. Evently I was growing algea every 5 days then I just never got it clear again. They came out and fixed whatever over a month...while the pool was only on recirulation not filtering... then when they finally fixed whatever IT EXPLODED! They even said i have white water mold and pink algea and have me treating with bacq. Premium Algeacide. So on my own of fusing with the store I changed to Chlorine and 5 weeks later it is still not clear...I can't see past two feet. Then I found some pink slime stuff in my spa and powder stuff (that looks like sand but it is not) collecting on the stairs and where the jets flow. What do I do? I got mad and I have been dumping 12lbs in the pool about every four days because it just disappears. My wallet can't afford this anymore. Please help me. Now I read your site and others and needless to say Just Say No to Bacquacil. But what do I do?

When converting off a biguanide product, it is recommended to drain and refill the pool water, and to change the filtration media (sand, cartridge or D.E.). Biguanide products may work OK for a year or two but the inevitable water mold is comming! Not to mention the cracking in plastics that touch the water like underground plumbing and other components.

Sorry you are having problems and hopefully you can get it under control but it will take time and money.

Biguanide products are STRICTLY a PROFIT TOOL for the pool dealer who chooses to sell it. ALWAYS REMEMBER - Nothing cleans like chlorine. Nothing is more effective and nothing is less expensive. Nothing.

Also - this topic was moved from the FORUM HELP AREA to WATER CHEMISTRY - BIGUANIDE area because it was not a question about how to use the forum, but a question about Biguanide sanitizer.
