Filter Sand Cleaning

Postby Cap409 on Fri Aug 01, 2003 11:37 am

I use EZ-Pool Sanitizer (Chlor-Free) instead of chlorine. Recently everytime I Vacuume, after two or three hours I have new sediment on the bottom. I have been vacuuming every day. The sand os 4 years old, and has never been cleaned. Should I change it out or try cleaning it?? If cleaning it is the best rout, what should I use?

First, we would recommend using chlorine as your sanitizer. It is the least expensive and most effective sanitizer available and completely safe.

Secondly, we would suggest replacing the sand in the filter after every third season at a minimum if you are using chlorine. If you are using other than chlorine, we suggest changing the media every season. We have not found that using a cleaning agent to be very useful or effective.

Hope this helps!
